Origami
Bergamo, Italy
Exhibition design for the library community,
Private client, 2023
Exhibition curator Michele Porcelluzzi, Produced by Miocugino
The drastic time limit and reusability of the materials were the non-negotiable basis from which the design of each piece originates while composing a family of various dimensions and purpose furniture to be stocked in 2 cubic meters in a flat pack-solution, and each element could be assembled and disassembled by a single person.
The precision of a Computerized Numerical Control machine to produce every component matches with simple, low-tech solutions that increase the long-lasting possibilities of re-use, completely avoiding any use of nails, screws, or glue.
Origami confronts the challenge of reducing waste, increasing adaptability, and guaranteeing complete reuse in exhibition design production. Using only wooden panels, the project offers every piece of furniture required for the short-term event through a complete reversible assembly.
The project represents adaptation and co-creation with the defuse hectic rhythms of exhibition design. The exposition for the library community of Italy in the framework of Bergamo, the city as the capital of culture, lasted for 48 hours, with a 4-hour gap to assemble and disassemble the whole set.
